Admission during Grade 11 year
Grade 11 students are eligible to apply to UPEI for admission to bachelor’s degrees in Arts, Business or Science to begin their university studies in the Fall after their Grade 12 year of High School. This early offer of admission is based on academic course results from Grade 11. Applicants who have a 75% average in the academic pathway subjects from their Grade 11 year are eligible to receive an offer of admission in advance of their Grade 12 year. Students are encouraged to apply after the first semester of their Grade 11 year.
Students are required to submit an updated transcript before March 1st (after the first semester) of their Grade 12 year for Scholarship review and to confirm that registration prerequisites will be satisfied.
Admission from Grade 11
This is for the exceptional student with at least 85% in Grades 10 and 11, who is highly recommended by the school (at least two letters), and who has written parental permission. Students with special aptitudes who may not have 85% will also be considered.
Gateway Program
Students under any category of admission may apply to attend the Gateway Program (GP). The GP provides extra support and encouragement to students and is available to both recent high school graduates and mature students registered in the program. At UPEI, each program has distinct criteria tailored to various levels of study. The criteria are divided into three categories: undergraduate, graduate, and English language proficiency. Each category outlines the specific qualifications and criteria needed for admission. Undergraduate requirements focus on academic achievements and prerequisites for entry into bachelor’s programs, while graduate requirements address advanced educational and professional criteria for master’s and doctoral studies. Additionally, English language proficiency requirements ensure that all applicants meet the necessary language standards to succeed in their studies. By clearly categorizing these requirements, UPEI provides a structured and transparent process for prospective students.
Visit our Programs page for a listing of all undergraduate programs and their respective requirements.
Students may refer to UPEI’s Academic Calendar, the official academic document for campus. It contains information about admission requirements, courses, regulations, faculty, and more. The document is in PDF format.
