UPEI Cairo Campus Wins Second Place at the University Cyber Cup 2026

The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences earns second place for Most Activities Created at the cybersecurity competition organized by Simulations Labs.

UPEI Cairo Campus has won second place for Most Activities Created at the University Cyber Cup 2026, a university cybersecurity competition organized by Simulations Labs. The recognition goes to the Faculty of Science’s School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences for its creative, hands-on contribution to cybersecurity learning.

What is the University Cyber Cup 2026?

The University Cyber Cup brings universities together around practical, simulation-based cybersecurity. Instead of learning from theory alone, students work through realistic scenarios that build the skills used to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats.

The 2026 competition was organized by Simulations Labs, a platform for building hands-on cybersecurity simulations for universities, educators, and security teams.

Second place for Most Activities Created

The Most Activities Created category recognizes the teams that do the most to build the cybersecurity learning experience, designing the hands-on activities that turn concepts into challenges students can explore, test, and solve.

Placing second in this category reflects the volume and creativity of the activities developed by UPEI Cairo Campus’s School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences.

Hands-on cybersecurity learning at UPEI Cairo Campus

For the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, the result reflects an approach that runs through its teaching: cybersecurity is best learned by doing. By designing activities for the competition, the team showed how creativity and practical problem-solving can make a demanding field more engaging, more accessible, and more closely connected to the challenges students will meet in their careers.

It is part of UPEI Cairo Campus’s wider commitment to a Canadian university education in Egypt grounded in applied, real-world learning.

Looking ahead

The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences will continue to find new ways to bring cybersecurity to life for its students, inside and beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to our Panthers on making their mark at the University Cyber Cup 2026!
